Secondary Application Information for The Warren Alpert Medical School Of Brown University Applicants Fall 2010 Entering Class

We are in receipt of your AMCAS application for admission to Alpert Medical School. The following information will help you take the next step in the application process—submitting the secondary application and supporting materials.
Secondary Application Process
Applicants to the MD Program at Alpert Medical School must meet the following three requirements before their application is considered complete. Materials sent by facsimile (FAX) or as electronic mail attachements are not acceptable and will not be considered. Only complete applications will be reviewed.
1. Completion and online submission of Alpert Medical School Secondary Application.

Note that the online application system prefers typed text. If you copy and paste a word processor document into a text box, the system may replace characters, such as apostrophes, with random text. We suggest using the fonts Courier or Arial. Be sure to proof your responses by clicking on "Check your Application" before submitting your application.
We encourage you to use the online application with credit card or check payment option. If you need to complete a paper application, please contact the admissions office at medschool_admissions@brown.edu.
2. One composite letter of recommendation (e.g., from premedical committee)
OR Three individual letters of recommendation.
These letters may be from the premedical or research advisor, from professors at the institution where you last studied, from present or former employers, or from other individuals of the applicant's choice. The recommendations should address your suitability for the MD or MD/PhD program. We accept letters of recommendation sent electronically through VirtualEvals or Interfolio. Paper letters must be submitted from your institution or the individual letter writer. Letters submitted by applicants will not be considered.
Note: AMS is not participating in the AMCAS letter service for the 09-10 admissions cycle.
3. Non-refundable application fee of $95 dollars.
Once you submit your completed application online, you have two payment options: secure, online credit card payment or check/money order mailed to our office. We cannot process an application until payment is received.
This fee may only be waived with written confirmation of an AMCAS fee waiver. Please forward a copy of the AMCAS email granting the fee waiver to MedSchool_Admissions@brown.edu. Do not submit your secondary application until you receive an email from us confirming acceptance of the fee waiver.
Important:
Print your completed application for your records before submitting. Upon submission you will be transferred to a secure webpage where you may make a credit card payment. If not paying with a credit card, print the voucher to include with your check or money order to the address below. Please make check payable to "Brown University."
MD/PhD Program
Eligibility requirements for the MD/PhD program have changed for the 2008-09 admission cycle and are described at http://med.brown.edu/admissions/mdphd.html. Once you have received approval from MD/PhD admissions and completed the AMCAS application, you are invited to submit the MD/PhD secondary application online.
