Standard Program for
ScB Applied Mathematics-Biology
Offered jointly with the Department of Applied Mathematics
Requirements:
- APMA 0350; 0360 (or 0330, 0340); 1650; and another approved 1000-level course.
- Four biology courses agreed upon by the student and the advisor (see below for some possible areas of emphasis).
- MATH 0090, 0100 (or 0170), 0180, 0520 (or, an applied math course).
- CHEM 0330; organic chemistry; biochemistry.
- PHYS 0030; 0040 (or equivalents).
- Two additional courses in applied math, biology, chemistry, math or physics. At least one of these must be a directed research course that reflects the theme of this program (e.g., APMA 1970; BIOL 1950/1960).
Possible areas of emphasis and courses suggested include:
- Biochemistry: BIOL 0280; 1270; and CHEM 0350, 0360, 1230, 1240.
- Cells, tissues and organs: BIOL 0800, 1100, 1190; and/or appropriate bioengineering courses, such as: BIOL 1080, 1090, 1120, 1140.
- Neurosciences: NEUR courses; APMA 0410
- Population biology and ecology: BIOL 0420; 0430; 0450; 0480; 1410; 1420; 1430; 1470.
- Genetics: BIOL 0470; 1410.
