Master in Public Health

Brown University’s Master of Public Health Program received full accreditation by the Council on Education for Public Health in 2002. With a high faculty-to-student ratio, students develop a broad understanding of public health and the health care delivery system while mastering the concepts of quantitative reasoning and related technical and analytic skills. They gain experience in the conduct of public health and health services research and translate diverse sources of public health related data into information that can be used to shape sound public health policies and practice in diverse settings.

In collaboration with the Rhode Island Department of Health and other agencies, students in the AB/MPH program have the advantage of pursuing research opportunities, community service and data analytic internships. In addition, Brown has ten nationally renowned public health research centers with funding in excess of $250 million. Students learn to conduct research on a wide-range of critical health topics affecting the population as a whole and target populations throughout the state. These experiences culminate in the presentation of the MPH Thesis.
