Part 2. Personal Statement.
The Personal Statement is a narrative that should be 1- 3 pages in length. Use 12 point font for legibility! This should include your philosophy of teaching and your approach to your various teaching activities. This is an opportunity for you to highlight your teaching innovations and improvements in courses. Also, you should briefly describe your future plans for your academic career and, in particular, your plans for teaching.
Part 3. Instructional Materials
Include here any materials that you have developed for teaching proposes. This can include curricula, syllabi, website urls, publications regarding teaching, or any other materials that you have created to enhance teaching. Copies of power-point presentations are not appropriate here.
Part 4. Teaching Evaluations
Teaching evaluations are used by the Promotions Committees to assess your effectiveness as a teacher. Any and all teaching evaluations should be included. Save ALL teaching evaluations you receive. Your department or supervisor may have other evaluations on file. If you teach in pre-clinical courses, the Student Education Office or Office of Medical Faculty Affairs at Brown may also have evaluations of your teaching.
