How many academic classes are required to be taken while in this Program?
The numbers of classes required depends on previous coursework taken and prior degrees (ex., Bachelors or Masters) earned. In general, students are required to take a minimum of 6 courses.
Do you have to teach as part of earning your Ph.D. in Pathobiology?
As part of the Ph.D. degree, candidates are required to fulfill a teaching requirement by serving as a Teaching Assistant in one course for a minimum of one semester.
How many research rotation opportunities would be available to me?
To make the best and most informed choices, Ph.D. degree candidates are required to complete a minimum of two research rotations prior to selecting a lab in which to complete their Ph.D. thesis research. If needed, as many as four rotations may be completed.
Do you have to (or can you) do a summer research rotation?
Degree candidates have the option of completing a summer rotation in the summer preceding the fall semester in which they will matriculate into the graduate program.
What is the population of a typical lab I would rotate in?
The sizes of labs vary quite a bit. There are often 1-2 graduate students per lab and on average 1-2 undergraduate students. Graduate students typically outnumber postdoctoral fellows.
