Every other week: Gross/microscopic presentation of selected cases from the autopsy and
surgical pathology services
Every fourth week: Journal club
Every fourth week: Meeting with Director and Codirector
8:309:00: Review of matters handled by the on-call pathology staff and residents. The directors of the various lab divisions conduct these sessions in rotation.
9:009:30: Clinical pathology. Lecture or interactive format
Topics include clinical chemistry, transfusion medicine, hematopathology, microbiology,
laboratory management, and clinical pathology subspecialties such as cytogenetics, flow cytometry,
etc., with active discussion of test methodologies, patient data, and quality assurance
issues.
9:3010:30: Anatomic pathology
Systematic coverage of anatomic pathology topics over the course of a year.
10:3011:30: Interesting case conference
Attending pathologists discuss current surgical pathology cases of interest. Selected slides
from each case are made availablewith history, but without diagnosisfor residents to
study in advance of the conference.
