About the Program

The Brown Pathology Residency Program is certified by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and is an accredited to train up to 16 residents in a four-year program in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP). Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University offers a comprehensive, integrated postgraduate training program for medical graduates planning careers in pathology. The Pathology Residency Program is designed to help the graduate physician acquire a broad knowledge of anatomic pathology and laboratory medicine; learn the techniques and methodologies required for continued professional growth; and develop teaching skills, research skills, and critical thinking habits.Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on developing skills to obtain critical information from anatomic and clinical pathology specimens to act as expert consulting physicians. The pathobiology of human disease is also emphasized to provide residents with the basis to understand and advance our knowledge of human disease throughout their careers.




Mission

The Program's mission is to provide the highest quality residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, to enhance the value of undergraduate and graduate medical education in the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University affiliated programs, and to produce superior physicians with a commitment to life-long learning and the scholarly practice of pathology.
