• Wigs for Kids - Mar 19
Stop by Sayles Hall on Wednesday the 19th and donate your hair for a great cause! All clean, dry ponytails 12" or longer will be cut for free and donated for wig-making. Regular haircuts are also welcome - no need to donate a ponytail, just give a small monetary donation to forward on to Wigs for Kids!
• Community Service Panel - Feb 29
Come to Eddy Auditorium (BMC 291) between 12 and 1 PM on Friday the 29th for a panel about community service opportunities available for undergraduate students. Learn about all sorts of projects that fellow students have organized, both international and local, both for the summer and for whenever you're available. Hope to see you there!
• Ethics of HIV Testing - Feb 6
Alpert Medical School presents the fourteenth annual Stanley D. Simon, MD, lecture at Andrews Dining Hall from 5:30 to 8 PM on Wednesday, February 6th. The speaker, Theresa L. Diaz, MD, MPH, will deliver a talk about the ethics of HIV testing in developing countries. For more information, follow this link. RSVP to Donna Arruda by February 1st.
• Join the PLME Advising Committee!
The newly founded PLME Advising Committee will consist of two students from each undergraduate and medical class of the PLME program. The commitee will discuss and suggest changes in the PLME Advising students in order to serve students better. Contact Geolani Dy if you're interested!
• Two PLME summer courses in Germany
The PLME Program has announcing two new summer mini-courses in Germany (taught in English) which are open to PLME seniors and juniors, and medical students. Students pay transportation to and within Germany, some food, and incidentals. Accommodation is provided, and tuition is waived. Apply here by March 31, 2008. The courses being offered are:
- Growing Old: The Medical Perspective of Aging. Rostock University, June 9-20, 2008.
- Comparative Medical Ethics. Tuebingen University, June 23 - July 4, 2008.
