MISSION

The Endocrine Surgery Program provides a broad clinical experience in surgery of the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and endocrine pancreas.

RESEARCH PROGRAMS

The current research programs include:
Subcutaneous transplantation of autologous parathyroid tissue in chronic renal failure patients.
Doppler ultrasound for localization in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism.
Ionized calcium in the diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism in patients with osteoporosis.
New instrumentation and techniques for laparoscopic parathyroid surgery.
A summer research project, involving one month of endocrine surgical research, is available for medical students.


CLINICAL PROGRAMS

The Endocrine Surgical Program provides broad clinical experience in endocrine surgery for residents in the Brown University Program of ?????, as well as an elective for Brown University Residents in Endocrine Surgery; also available to residents from throughout the United States and Europe. A two-week to one-month elective is available also, both for Brown University third- and fourth-year students and other U.S. or international schools.
