The Inflammation Symposium Series

Trauma and inflammation are the core subjects of research at the Division of Surgical Research, Department of Surgery, RI Hospital and Brown Medical School.  Starting in 2003, the Division of Surgical Research organized yearly Advances in Inflammation Research Symposia formatted around lectures from outstanding investigators in the field of inflammation, presentations by junior research faculty members, and Meet the Professor sessions. Not only have we been able to recruit outstanding speakers from various parts of the United States, but also have developed a growing attendance of investigators from regional research institutions that include Harvard, Yale, University of Rhode Island, University of Massachusetts and Brown affiliated hospitals. Interactions with members of the faculty and attendees have resulted in collaborative studies with members of the Brown community.
