Requirements
The program is open to clinicians (M.D.) and to basic scientists (Ph.D.). M.D.s will be selected among residents in any branch of Medicine or Surgery whose goals include the development of an academic career centered upon trauma research. For the most part, candidates will be considered after completion of at least 2 years of residency training. M.D. candidates will be expected to complete their residency training after the fellowship. A letter from the Department Chairman or Residency Program Director guaranteeing that the trainee will be accepted back in the residency program at the end of the fellowship program must be obtained before accepting the applicant to the program. Outstanding candidates who have finished their residency training will also be considered.Applications will consist of the applicant's C.V. and a statement of career goals and expectations. For those candidates who have already identified and contacted a faculty mentor, a brief description of the applicant's research plan endorsed by the faculty mentor will also be required. In addition, letters of recommendation will be considered.
