Program Activities & Career Development
While trainees are required to attend and participate in relevant seminar series/joint divisional lab meetings organized by the Division of Surgical Research, they are also strongly encouraged to avail themselves of the different graduate program seminar series at Brown Medical School and Grand Rounds for the clinical departments. They are also required to attend the annual conference on Advances in Inflammation Research/retreat held each fall by the Division of Surgical Research. Presentation of results at such conferences during the second year of training will be encouraged. It is our belief that through the provision of a mixed basic scientific/clinical mentorship, with a well grounded basis in biostatistics, ethics in research and scientific writing, the trainee will leave with the tools necessary to pursue an independent academic career in research areas related to trauma and inflammation.
